EXPRESSIVE ARTS SESSIONS
"We become what we imagine."
Shaun McKniff
WHAT IS EXPRESSIVE ARTS?
Expressive arts is a creative art facilitation that helps stimulate the senses by combining different art modalities, including visual arts, dance and movement, sculpting, music, poetry, theatre and drama, etc. It is an intermodal approach in which various art modalities are employed sequentially in a meaningful way for personal development, improved wellbeing, social change and transformation.
Such a synthesis of modalities sharpens many senses at the same time and enables clients to feel freer and more creative by expanding their playgrounds. As a result, a poem can evoke visual images in us or a photograph can turn into a melody in our ears!
You do not need any prior experience or a particular artistic skill—it is about expressing yourself and allowing your creativity to flow freely. Chase your creativity with no fear of doing it right or wrong!

How do I work with Expressive Arts?

Safety & professionalism
Your emotional and physical safety are prioritised by experienced mental health professionals, and trained lay counsellors and artists, ensuring a supportive space where you can explore your creativity and emotions freely.

Low-skill &
high sensitivity
Expressive arts sessions are designed in a way that they do not require any particular artistic skill. The focus is not on creating a technically perfect piece of art, but rather on the process of expression itself.
A holistic approach
The mind-body connection and effect of multiple interrelated systems, including social, physical, psychological, biological and environmental, on wellbeing are addressed in the diversified activities of the sessions.

Resources-oriented
We all constantly move along a spectrum between health and illness, influenced by stress, resilience, and resources. The focus is on conditions that enhance well-being, helping individuals manage challenges and maintain balance.
